This Recipe Thing

Yesterday, I was awoken from a dream at 2 a.m. with the compelling need to get up and not just write down the recipe but to go down to my cold kitchen and begin preparing the recipe I was dreaming about. Sometimes this recipe thing is both a blessing and a curse. I would much rather have been in bed all snuggly and warm but no my mind kept saying, “Get Up! You know you want to make it!” I looked at the clock and quietly left the warmth of my cocoon not wanting to wake my snoring husband (who came down an hour later, telling me I shouldn’t listen to the voices in my head.) Little does he know I ignore most of the voices but that’s another matter.

Recipe Dreams and 50 Day Cleanse

I’ve been told several times this week, “You only have 12 days left of the cleanse. So then you can go back to eating the same way you did before.” Many people don’t understand that eating the way I did before led me to a disease I did not want nor would wish on my worst enemy. It led my husband to a disease he did not want. No, we’re not going back to our old way of eating. We are however going to start another cycle of the cleanse on June 7th. I also plan on doing a 3rd cycle of the cleanse on July 27th. It’s interesting at how much we make sure our outside bodies are cleaned every day but ignore our insides. We bathe every day, we shower, we keep our living environments clean, but we forget that our insides need cleaning too.

I took my car in for an oil change and asked if I could watch them drain the used oil from the car. Of course, they thought I was nuts – I assured them most people do, so it’s okay. I asked them questions too. Like, “What would happen if you didn’t drain the old used oil from a car?” The technician looked at me in astonishment – and then began to go into his dialogue. “If you don’t drain the old, used, black oil from the car and just add the good the stuff, the good stuff would not be able to do its job. The used oil would clog up the engine and the engine wouldn’t run correctly. By draining all the old oil, we make sure the engine can run at its optimum level.”

This got me to thinking about the 50 Day Cleanse. The first 5 days – water fasting – of this cleanse does the same thing for us. It clears out our brain fog, it clears out all the sugar and helps our bodies burn fat for fuel instead of being clogged with all the sugar and processed foods we’ve eaten to this point. I know some of you decided not to do the first 5 days and proceeded right to doing the intermittent fasting, but like my car that needed the oil change, you won’t get the same kind of results as those who have gritted their teeth and made it through the five days.

This also got me to thinking about how much impact what we put in our mouths has on our health. Did you know that the lining of our intestines becomes clogged with food we eat? Just ask anyone with Crohn’s disease. Just going straight to the intermittent fasting without giving your body a chance to reset itself and your organs a chance to heal, you’re kind of pouring clean oil on the used, old oil. Cleansing our digestive track with the 5-day water fast is just like draining a car’s old oil.

Nourishing Raw Alkaline Vegan Alternatives

I have always loved sour cream and giving up dairy is one of the most difficult aspects of this cleanse. But it’s been well worth it. I’ve been asking myself questions before going to bed at night to help me make a nourishing raw alkaline vegan alternative to the dairy that I miss so much. Here are three recipes I’ve dreamed about in the last couple of weeks.

3 Ingredient Cantaloupe Ice Cream

Cantaloupe Ice Cream

  • 1 cantaloupe, seeded, peeled, cut into chunks and frozen
  • 1 coconut (water and 1 cup of coconut meat used) Freeze remainder of the meat for later use.
  • 2 teaspoons organic vanilla extract
  • ½ cup water

Place all ingredients in food processor or Nutri bullet. Process until smooth.

Freeze in a metal bowl until firm. About 3 hours.


Makes about 6 servings.

Variations: In place of the cantaloupe you can also use 3 pints of berries, 3 bananas, 8 apricots, or any other alkaline fruit. I’m thinking about making it with some frozen pears I found in my freezer from last fall.

Avocado Bliss

Avocado & Mango Bliss with my Pineapple Salsa and Sweet Seed “Taco Meat”

Avocado Bliss

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • Juice of one lime (measured out)
  • Water (same amount as the measured lime juice)
  • ¼ teaspoon Himalayan salt
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/8 – ¼ teaspoon ground Habanero Pepper
  • ¼ cup Avocado Oil

Whirl together in food processor until creamy.

This is one of my favorite things because it has the same consistency of sour cream.

Variation: Use two mangoes for the avocados.

I’m so glad that my talent of dreaming in recipes can benefit so many. I am beginning to understand that my dreams are not only changing my own health but having an effect on so many others. This recipe thing is changing lives just like the 50 Day Cleanse.



Sleep: The Newest Nutrient

These health issues can be made worse with lack of sleep.

Sleep should be the newest nutrient in anyone’s health plan because it is through sleep that the other nutrients are allowed to do their work. Without sleep we are hungrier for carbohydrates, our heart rates are elevated, our blood pressure is elevated, our brains do not work as well as they should. Every time we are sleep deprived we put ourselves into grave danger. Yes, I said grave danger because we will be closer to the grave than if we had slept. Now I am not saying you should run to the cheapest sleep aid. Each of us has different issues that are prohibiting our sleeping. When we look to fixing those issues we will begin to sleep again. Our bodies need uninterrupted sleep for our cells to rejuvenate, and our bodies to get back the homeostasis it needs so we can live. Without this uninterrupted sleep our bodies begin the break down process and instead of maintaining homeostasis it opens the doors to disease.

Every day the food supply gets worse and worse with Monsanto as the culprit for poisoning our food supply and telling the public “It’s okay!” We see it all the time. It isn’t okay. And if you want your children to have a better life than you, you have to get educated on what types of food are good for them and for you. Don’t be fooled by mass media. Thinking that pesticides sprayed on crops by people wearing hazmat suits but yet it won’t harm you. If you just remember one thing about this post, remember this. If your skin absorbs what you put on it and becomes part of your body, then don’t you think what is sprayed on our food will be absorbed through the leaves, stems and fruit to become part of the food? If you won’t put the pesticides on child’s skin or your own skin, then don’t eat food sprayed with pesticides either. The quality of your child’s future life is in your hands.

These days parents spend more time picking out new shoes and new clothing than they do in feeding their children. As a parent we mold and shape our children into what we think is best for them. We touch their futures by what we feed them as a child. If  children see their parents eating fresh produce they are more likely to enjoy the produce too. If we don’t want our children to spend their lives in doctor’s offices then we need to make major changes in their diets. Children follow in the foot steps of their parents. If  parents aren’t make conscious decisions about the food they eat, their children won’t either.

  • What kind of tomorrow’s do you want for your children?
  • How many days do you want your children to live?
  • What are your hopes for your children?
  • What example are you setting for them?
  • Do you want your children to be diseased?

The answers to these questions all hinge on what we are feeding them. If we take back the responsibility of being a parent, we can ensure the healthy futures for our children and change the health path for our family.


Sometimes I think we are all living under a rock when people ask me for advice or help in researching alternative health therapies that might help them with their specific diseases. Everyone seems to be searching for that miracle cure that is going to let them continue with their unhealthy lifestyle yet help them be invincible when it comes to diseases. Well, I’m here to inform everyone reading this that the only miracle cure there is  is you. You are the miracle prevention, you are the miracle cause, and the miracle cure. Just open your eyes and you’ll see that what you’ve been thinking, doing, and eating are all contributors to either great health and devastatingly bad health.


It’s really simple. If you think bad thoughts all the time and walk around with a negative attitude your body will follow suit and become energetically blocked. Negative thoughts kill not only our attitudes but they change our genes and our cells so we are more susceptible to contracting devastating diseases and illnesses. But the contrary of positive thoughts can actually help people overcome those diseases. So one would think that if a person were to change their negative thoughts to positive ones then the diseases won’t get a foothold in our bodies. Here’s something to think about: if you carry a lot of anger around with you on a daily basis and are noticing you’re in more pain than usual try letting go of the anger and see if the pain also goes away. It may take a bit of time but this one change will affect the rest of your life.

Whatever we think about whether positive or negative we end up doing. So if we are thinking negatively or swearing at those who we love we are actively taking those negative thoughts and giving them permission to ruin our lives by our actions. Think about it. Carrying out a negative thought is what serial killers do. They run with that one negative thought until it’s too late, and they’ve committed not just one murder but many murders. All because they had negative thoughts. Now I’m not saying that everyone who has a negative thought is a murderer but that thought becomes an action just the same. So when you think “I’m not worth it” “I’m no good!” “No one loves me!” “Get out of my life!” You’re setting the stage for that very thing to happen. Telling ourselves that we’re not worth it, we’re no good, no one loves puts us into situations where those words come true. I know this because I used to think those things. I used to tell myself all sorts of lies, like this. I acted on them too by trying to satiate my feelings with food, procrastination, sleep, and yes anger at myself. Then one day, I just stopped. I asked God to help me change my thoughts to only think of the positive and it happened not instantly, but gradually.  It’s freeing to look at only the positive side of situations. It’s helped my life, my marriage, my family, and my health.


I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve said “We can’t eat phood and expect to be healthy!” (My own term Phood: phony food, GMO food.) Most of us can’t stand to be around phony people, then why do we stuff our mouths, and our lives with phony food that robs our bodies of nutrients instead of giving us what we need and want most. Is it too difficult to understand that we hold the key to our own health by what we eat? This is where the rock comes in. How many people don’t know who Dr. Oz is? Or Dr. Andrew Weill? Or Dr. Mark Hyman? Or Dr. Neal Barnard? Or Dr. Joe Mercola? All of them will tell you that processed food is killing us. The news stories all over the place are telling us that we have more diseases now than ever before, and asking the question “WHY?” Don’t you think the answer may lie in the fact that people now eat more processed foods than our ancestors did? Heck there are more processed foods now than when I was in my 20’s. And it’s a vicious cycle too. Because those processed foods are depleting your body of nutrients which stops you from thinking clearly, which makes you act out those thoughts. It’s SAD!

Open your eyes so you can see what’s really going on. If you eat a healthy, non-GMO diet, preferably organic, don’t smoke or drink, and get regular exercise you can prevent almost 80% of all diseases.

Not a day goes by that we are not hearing about how the commercial food supply is tainted with different harmful chemicals. Yesterday the news story was about how pomegranate juice really isn’t just pomegranates but a combination of white grape juice, water and pomegranates. We also heard that commercially purchased paprika is colored to look redder because it isn’t all natural. We also learned that the food labels don’t necessarily have to tell us that these foods contain foreign substances. So I started asking myself how do we protect ourselves from these poisons in our food supply.

First, we become educated to what the food additives are: artificial colorings, artificial flavorings, artificial sweetners, bromine, BHA/BHT, carrageenan, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, nitrates/nitrites, MSG (and it’s 27 different names), etc. The endless list is so exhaustive there are entire websites that list them and their side effects.

Second, we need to make sure that we  eliminate the foods that contain all these food additives and look at how you can protect yourself not just by reading the labels but by including organic foods. Yes, I’ve heard it all before “Oh it’s too expensive, I can’t afford organic on my food budget” This is where you have leverage your spending dollars. If you forgo that bag pesticide laden potato chips you can afford a bunch a organic bananas. It’s all a choice. You can choose to buy chemical laden food and feel ill all the time, or you can choose healthy organic food and feel good. One more thing here, stop listening to the television doctor who claims that if you buy organic food your an elitist because you know he is. You’ve got to know that his house is only filled with organic. Stop the insanity and stop listening to hypocrites. 

Third, the toxins in our life slows down the healing process that happens within our cells. This slow down helps diseases to take hold and make us sick and can even be deadly.

Soy is in almost every manufactured food product and nutritional supplement today. It is the main ingredient in vegetable oil, and can also be found in candles and soaps. We have been sold a lie. Marketing giants perpetuated that lie by coming up with bogus studies claiming that soy is the best thing since Wonder bread. And we all know how nutritious Wonder bread is. 10 Reasons I Said Goodbye to Soy and saved my life.

  • Soy is the most mucus causing vegetable on the planet. It is just like dairy. Mucus causes our digestive track to back up causing what would look like a standstill on a highway. This standstill causes the food we eat to become fermented. It sticks to the walls of our intestines like a magnet. Soy has been known to create digestive issues like IBS, slow digestion, circulatory issues, weight gain, and premature aging.
  • Soy suppresses Thyroid Function: It destroys our thyroid. Soy is considered the king of goitrogenic foods. What does this mean to you and me? A goitrogenic food interferes with the function of our thyroid, it can make our thyroid become enlarged, which makes it more difficult for the thyroid gland to produce the necessary hormones.
  • Soy blocks protein absorption: It is often said that soy is a complete protein, and therefore it is healthy for human and animal consumption. WRONG: Soy may be a complete protein but it is packaged all wrong. Unfermented soy (Soy protein isolate, soy milk, TVP, edamame, Tofu, Vegetable oils, Soy cheese, Soy ice cream, etc) have enzyme inhibitors. It’s these inhibitors which block the absorption of any protein that may be present in the soybean. Trypsin is one of those much needed digestive enzymes we need to properly digest protein; soy blocks that enzyme. The lack of trypsin causes stomach cramping, diarrhea, and bleeding.
  • Anti-nutrients: These are toxic nutrients that are natural in plants to ward off different insects and animals. We are told to soak dry beans and nuts overnight to get rid of these anti-nutrients called phytates. These enzyme inhibitors cause gas, heartburn, reflux, and other digestive upset. Soy has problems here because while other legumes are giving up their phytates in the soaking water, soy holds onto their phytates. You can’t wash it off, or soak it off. So what’s the big problem with phytates? Phytates bind to minerals, such as zinc, calcium, magnesium, iron, and copper. It strips them from our bodies, giving us mineral deficiencies.
  • Too much estrogen causes cancer. The phytoestogens in soy surpass all other foods. 100 grams of soy protein = 4 protein shakes = is the same estrogenic equivalent of a birth control pill.
  • Genetically Modified: Soy is genetically modified to resist herbicides. Studies have found that hamsters fed GM soy were unable to have offspring and died much earlier than they should have.
  • Soy Protein Isolate is seen in the body just like MSG (monosodium glutamate).  This means that while eating or drinking anything with soy protein isolate our bodies see it as MSG and it has a negative effect on our brains. Soy protein isolate is a waste product that is the residue of the production of soy oil. So in essence every time you eat or drink something that contains it, you are consuming sludge. The sad fact here is that Soy Protein Isolate is also the first ingredient in many infant formulas.
  • Soy contains aluminum. Aluminum is toxic to the nervous system and to the kidneys (I have one kidney, so I want to protect it as much as possible). Aluminum is also a contender for the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. We are raising a generation of Alzheimer patients every time we give our infants soy formula.
  • Soy damages our intestines. So while I am going about my day in trying to remain gluten free because of my intolerance to it, staying away from soy is also inevitable. Soy is loaded with protease inhibitors, lectins, oxalates, oligosaccharides, and proteins that cause intestinal irritation.

These are my 10 reasons I gave up soy over six years ago. It has been a difficult ride, but my health is in my hands.

We need to look past all the marketing hype and find out how to make our health the best it can be. Walking away from soy has been one of the best things I have done for my health.

As many of you know who are following my blog, I have been using ASEA for many of my health issues. I have been on this amazing product now for 3 months. I love the benefits I am seeing with this unique product. I’ve been taking it internally for the entire 12 weeks, and I’ve sprayed it directly into my eyes; I’ve also sprayed it on my face and other skin areas. This week I had the opportunity to use it in a way that has not been used but I felt confident that it would work in that area too. I have been vacationing in the High Dessert of Redmond, Oregon.
