On my walk this morning I came to the conclusion that without understanding of why something happens in our lives we continue to let it keep happening. People are always asking that ill fated question, “WHY?”  “Why did this bad thing happen to me?” “Why did I get this disease?” “Why did my spouse leave me?”  And we are always given  the answer in yet another question, “WHY NOT?” The answers to these questions helps in understanding the vision we have for our entire life.

While many times we are told not to even think about the question of “Why?” something has happened or is happening in our lives. Because people think that we will have to endure even more bad things happening to us. Don’t you find it interesting that we only question when bad things are going on and not the good? When we’re going through the good times we never stop to think about why they’re happening we’re just enjoying the moment.

Understanding the vision in our life means that we need to understand the why’s and the why not’s  of the things that happen to us; this means that we need to ask ourselves some difficult attachment questions. It’s no secret that in order to lose weight and get healthy we need to ask ourselves questions about our motives in why we do the deeds that are detrimental to both our figure and our health. For me, it looks like this: What in my past has me connected to eating chocolate first thing in the morning? This goes all the way back to my grandfather. I am longing for those simpler times when I was cared for by my Dzadza (Polish for grandfather). I feel the need to continue in his legacy even though I know it’t not healthy. But in my case I’ve changed the way I have my chocolate in the morning and have a chocolate protein shake instead.

This was an easy vision to understand. I have a vision of looking and feeling a certain way so I needed to understand why I am constantly craving something that is tied me to my past. How many of us do this every day but don’t understand why we’re doing it? Now let’s dig a little deeper. I’m not a fan of setting goals, many people aren’t, but they’re also going nowhere, either. Goals help us achieve that which is worthwhile. So what’s my obsession about these little things called goals? While I’ve set goals in the past, some I accomplished and some I haven’t, in my mind I always focused on the unaccomplished goals instead of my successes. WHY? Because I sometimes I let the negative words of my mother overrun my mind instead of those positive words of my father. I accomplished many things in my life by having goals but those negative words are sometimes so difficult to silence.

I was sitting in a business training session a couple of months ago with other associates and we were going around the circle  stating our goals about where we want our business to be. When it was my turn, I stood up and said “I try not to make goals because when I do and I don’t accomplish them I am extremely depressed.” I shot myself in the foot that day. Because the only thing I’ve accomplished is nothing!

I now understand that I need to have a vision of where I want to go and I need to understand that vision. Understanding the vision for my life means that I need to write down my goals, read over my goals, give a vision to my goals. I need to map out where I want to go not just with the business but with my physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, environmental, and social health. Sometimes I think in pictures and sometimes I think in words. So I’ve decided to bring my vision to life with photos that I’ve started collecting, quotes about the life I want to have. I’ve printed them all out and they sit on the wall above my computer in my office. The quotes are on my bathroom mirror, my refrigerator, and my front door. 

You see if I surround myself with my vision, I’ll understand my vision, and I’ll become my vision.

Instead of letting life happen to you, bring your vision to life.

Understand it.

Taste it.

Feel it.

Become the vision.

Most of the time we save money but never see any of the money we’ve saved. But if you putting it all together you can take the money you’ve saved and open a new savings account.

If you’re really in a pinch for some extra cash you may want to look into bringing more money into your hands.  A part-time business would relieve your financial stress by helping your health and the health of your family.

As promised here are tips 21-26 from my absence.

Tip #21: The Spending Diet: Only spend money on necessities, only the basics for an allotted, agreed upon time period. I did this with my family for six months one year and was able to send our four children to the summer camps of their choice for one week.

TIP # 22: Challenge yourself to stop using big appliances for a month or a season at a time. For me it was the oven and it lasted an entire summer. I saved a whopping $60. It takes some pre-planning but it can be done.

TIP #23: Wash everything in cold water and put clothes through 2 spin cycles. Spinning clothes twice takes more water out which makes the drying time shorter as well.

TIP #24: Creatively use your trash. Compost food scraps. Cardboard boxes and Styrofoam food trays are great as art projects for kids. The less trash you have the less you have to pay in some communities. Plus is you recycle more you are helping the environment too.

TIP  #25: Free books on my kindle are my favorite way to save money.  If you have an electronic reading device, download the free books, and low cost ($.99) books. I am currently reading one I got for free, because I was in the right place at the right time: Vibrational Money Immersion Think and Grow Rich for Network Marketers by Ray Higdon.

TIP #26: Have a potluck meal once a week with family, friends, and coworkers. It’s cheaper when you only have to bring one dish instead of making the whole meal.

How many times does a child want to touch something that we warn not to? My youngest son, used to test my patience every moment of the day by trying to reach for things that were too high for him, and not safe for him to touch. I’ve learned much from the tenacity that this son was born with. He never let anything stand in his way of following his dream. He is living his dream as I write this, and I’m very proud of him for that. I’ve been asking myself “How many no’s do I go for in a day?” Am I like my son who used to wear me down by his persistence or do I give up and try to avoid all the no’s in life without trying?


I am a 1099 employee and it is part of my business to teach people about my product. Last week I made no money. Why? Because I became disheartened by the no’s that I was receiving not realizing that I should be focusing more on the no’s then on the yes’s I get. Instead of being persistent in teaching people about my product, like my son’s persistent with me, I just stopped trying altogether. I stopped getting the no’s but I also stopped getting yes’s too.

So now I’m back to square one. I have made a challenge for myself to get 5 no’s every morning and another 5 no’s every afternoon, for the rest of the month. I’m tired of starting over every month only to realize that this business is a lot like my fitness life where I lose weight, I get comfortable and then I gain it all back, needing to start over yet again. So as my weight goes up and down, my work life does too. It is a roller coaster of a life I choose to lead when I give in to the no’s in my business life and my personal life.

Challenging myself to accept each no with the same resiliency of accepting a yes in both my personal and business life will change the very core of who I am. While I taught my son how to become persistent, he has taught me to hold on tight to my dreams and not let anything stand in the way. Going for my no’s should be a piece of cake now that I know my no’s will lead to my dream.


If you’ve been following this blog, you already know that I am in love with books. I usually buy one good book a month and read at least five books at a time. One of my favorite authors is John C Maxwell. One of the books I am currently reading is Make Today Count by John C Maxwell.

When my husband tells me I need to read something, he’s usually right. Once I picked it up to read it, I couldn’t put it down. Plus I started to take notes on it. Something I do with books like this. The first chapter is titled “Attitude.” Our attitudes make or break us. Our attitudes toward ourselves will speak volumes for other people. If we are supposed to inspire other people, a bad attitude will show the world that we are not worthy of following. Plus a bad attitude makes today worthless. Our attitudes are choices we make each day. We can choose to be positive or negative and our day will reflect those choices. While we cannot choose our heritage we can choose our attitudes by getting rid of the negativity in our lives.

Which leads me to the next book I am reading. The 10 X Rule by Grant Cordone. I found this book by listening to Grant on his YouTube videos. While it talks about the differences between being a success or a failure in the business world his practices make sense in the other arenas in my life. The 10 X Rule is just as simple as doing something 10 times to see greater benefits whether it’s applied to business, weight loss, child rearing, or our relationships. In raising children, we don’t just tell them once that they shouldn’t do something that could hurt them, it’s an ongoing process. We also can’t think that if we workout once a week we are going to look like a super model. I just love the candor of this author and speaker to tell “it like it is” approach. Grant Cardone is the “Howard Stern” of the business world and a much needed breath of fresh air.
