Third Cycle of 50 Day Cleanse

Today begins our third cycle through the 50 Day Cleanse. My husband and I are so eager to do this one just like we were from that first day back in April. I can’t believe it’s been that long. I haven’t turned on my oven since then either. I’ve made several tweaks to the cleanse as is always when doing something with participation input. I think this time it will be easier to maintain as well as continue on as a lifestyle change.

Days 1 – 5: Water Fasting

This can include:

  • Organic Green and Herbal Teas and organic coffee no sweetener and no cream.
  • Himalayan Sole Water (Refer to the link)
  • Reverse Osmosis, Ionized, Kangen, Electrolyte and Spring water
  • If you take medications and supplements, continue taking them. If you need to take with food, eat 1/3 cup organic raw cashews or almonds and drink plenty of water.

How much water should you drink? Most experts say half your body weight in ounces of water. If you weigh 200 pounds then you should drink 100 ounces of water.

Hint: Green and herbal teas count toward your ounces of water. Coffee doesn’t since 1 cup of coffee eats away 2 cups of fluid from your cells.

Why Water Fast?

Ever take your car for an oil change? Does the technician just pour fresh oil into the reservoir without draining the old oil out? No, that would be defeating the purpose of an oil change. Well, the same is true for our bodies. If we treat our bodies like a finely tuned sports car and clean out the old residue from our previous eating habits we’ll be able to absorb more of the nutrients of the new foods we’ll be adding to our diets (rebooting). Water fasting has also been shown to help combat diseases and aids in weight loss. It’s also being used by different oncologists in the treatment of cancer (Dr. Thomas Seyfried).

Days 6 – 50: Intermittent Fasting with Raw Alkaline High Fat Vegan Foods

What does this look like?

On Day 6 it’s a good idea to end your fast with a raw alkaline veggie smoothie or juice. Never, Never, Never end an extended fast with a full meal. (Unless, of course, you like puking!) Find a 4-hour window where you’ll have an alkaline veggie juice, an alkaline veggie high fat smoothie, and a nice big salad again with raw alkaline veggies and lemon/avocado oil dressing. (For me that 4-hour window is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Going forward, your meals will change and you may want to skip the juice and add a more hearty vegan meal, that will be your choice. I will be sharing more recipes with you as we move toward that goal.

Many people have asked, “Why Raw?”  “Why Alkaline?” and “Why high fat”

Raw because when we cook veggies we kill the natural enzymes a.k.a. proteins in the veggies and fruits. We need those enzymes to digest the food itself but when it’s the enzymes are killed. Now granted there are those individuals who for health reasons by their doctors will only eat cooked veggies because it kills the enzymes but cooking also kills the nutrients. If you think you still need to cook your veggies, steam them lightly after the cleanse when we transition to an alkaline keto vegan plan for the fall and winter months.

Alkaline because our bodies are under an extreme amount of stress which creates an acidic environment in our guts and digestive tract. When we eat alkaline foods we help our bodies stave off diseases as well as helping our bodies heal from within.

High Fat The right kind of fat will help you stay mentally focused because our brain is 60% fat. Our bodies love running on fat better than carbs. Fat is also great for the elasticity of our skin, it has an important role in the production of hormones, and it fills us up and keeps us full for hours which makes intermittent fasting easier. A high fat (good fats: coconut oil, MCT oil, nuts, avocados, olive oil, coconut oil, seeds, and avocado oil) helps stave off the maladies of aging.

You’re probably wondering what exactly can you eat now? Below is an infographic I put together to help you understand what’s allowable and what’s not on this 50 Day Cleanse.

One last note: Please keep track of your gains and losses with a notebook. If not for yourself, then for me. I am interested in how this is working for all of you. If you’d like to join our 50 Day Cleanse group on Facebook for some group therapy, you’re more than welcome to.

7 Simple Money Saving Health Hacks

Each day when you look through health magazines and search the net you are bombarded with the same health news only spun around to think you are gaining some new health truths. If you get right down to it good health is simple and saves money. Here are 7 simple money saving health hacks that will restore your health, keep your health intact, and make your health soar while putting more money in your pocket.

Feat1-630x315

  1. Food: Examine the food you eat. If you are eating more food that comes from a package or is overprocessed then it’s time to rethink what you’re putting in your mouth. Buy as much as you can from organic resources. Know what’s in your food and you’ll know what’s in you. Think about how much money you spend on snack foods that are loaded with chemicals that were created in labs to give you the sense of tasting like food. It’s interesting when you remove all the chemicals from processed foods you’re left with a substance that resembles gray cardboard. While you’re rethinking the food you put in your mouth, ask yourself a couple of questions: Does this food help me have nurturing energy? Does this food help my children become spastic or nurture them?
  2. Fasting: When was the last time you fasted? Did you know that fasting helps your body deal with pain and helps it heal by giving it a chance to rest from trying to digest all the food you are constantly shoving down your mouth? By taking away all the food from your daily intake for 24 hours, your body has a chance to play catch up. Now, if you’re a diabetic I am not saying you should do this at all. I am not just introducing this topic willy-nilly. Intermittent fasting has been used by many people who are trying to gain and maintain health. We live in a world where food is everywhere, fasting goes against everything you’d see on TV, but trust me when I say that when you eat only two meals a day, you’ll feel better and you’ll save money.
  3. Cleanliness: Every time you use the restroom you wash your hands, right? Cleaning your surroundings. How often do you have trash or stuff everywhere around your home, office, dorm room? Did you know that there is a correlation between a messy home and how often you get sick? It’s a proven fact that clutter can contribute to headaches, accidents, depression, acid reflux, digestive issues, and weight gain. Clean up your surroundings and you’ll be saving a lot of money in doctor bills and lost wages due to sickness.
  4. Sunshine & Fresh Air: Getting outside, taking a walk, playing catch with your children, building a snowman, going sledding, building a sandcastle, camping, fishing, riding a bike, running helps us the most when we are depressed. Fresh air cleans our lungs. When we’re cooped up in our homes, most of us are smelling those artificial scents with the plug-ins that are deadly. We’re smelling the scents of all the plastics within our homes. Sunshine is the best way to get Vitamin D, it cheers us up and helps us see the brighter side of life.
  5. EXERCISE: We live in an instant, electronic, gadget-driven world. But we were made to move, so move, we must. It doesn’t even matter what exercise you do as long as you do it regularly. Walking, Biking, Running, Weightlifting, Swimming, Dancing, Stretching, Pilates, Rope Skipping, Kickboxing, the list is endless. Find some kind of exercise you like to do and continue in it on a regular basis. That’s the important part, a regular basis, it’s different for each person. For me, Pilates is three days a week and walking the other four days. This one simple way of living saves more money than just one. It reduces stress, helps lose and maintain weight, builds muscle, reduces depression, reduces appetite, induces a good night’s sleep.
  6. Sleep & Rest: Getting a good night’s sleep is the difference between sickness and health. It takes the other 5 tips to help with this one. A good night’s sleep keeps us alert, helps us to slow the aging process, helps our bodies digest certain minerals, helps our bodies repair and rebuild our cells. Resting helps our body rebuild but it also helps our mind to take a mini-vacation. Resting in the 21st century means we need to disconnect from all our social media outlets at least for 3 hours a day. Do something that’s enjoyable; read a book for fun, learn a new art technique, just sit and be. When was the last time you daydreamed?
  7. Build a Positive Mental Attitude: It takes the other 6 tips to help build and keep a positive mental attitude. You have a power within you to change your circumstances. Just like our minds can make us sick and broke we also have that power within us to make us for health and wealth. Being positive lowers your risk of heart disease, helps you have better relationships and better equips you to deal with the negative things that happen in life. Being positive can help you save money.

These are 7 health hacks that can save you money, but they can also be applied to your relationships, your family life, your career, your education, your spiritual soundness. Try some of these simple health hacks, your bank account will thank you.

10 REASONS TO KEEP MOVING

Every day I wake up with the same agenda. Each day has the same components to it by the routine I choose to follow. Everyone has their own routine that makes their lives stand out as a success. It’s what we do daily that defines us. For many people exercising is part of that routine but for even many more, exercising is drudgery.  They will come up with every excuse not to exercise. And their excuses become their defining secret to why they are not as healthy they’d like to be. Some people are motivated by the endorphins exercising brings. You know that great feeling you get after you work out, like you can conquer the world, and enjoy more peace in your life. But for some people those endorphins don’t mean a thing, these are the people who are motivated differently.

I’m one of those people and here’s my 10 tips to keep moving.

physical-inactivity

  • Prevention costs less money than disease: The costs for having a severe heart attack back in 2010 was $780,000. For a mild heart attack it was only $38,000. Walking is free, riding a bike costs about $300 for an adequate bicycle, even less if you get a second hand bike. The math is easy go  figure it out.
  • Exercising prevents and relieves joint pain: When you are inactive your muscles weaken which could cause curvature of your joints and loss of the lubricating fluid in and around your joints. Exercising also keeps our joints flexible. If you have an auto-immune disease, like I do, moving is one of your best defenses.
  • Exercising is cheaper than therapy
  • Movement helps your digestion: It’s the cheapest and most natural way cure constipation.
  • Only way to ensure weight loss success: Eating healthy is one side of the coin, exercising is the other. They are dependent on each other for success.
  • Inactivity speeds up aging: If muscle atrophy and stiff joints aren’t enough of a sign that you’re aging quickly then the added weight gain and sagging skin are definitely a sign. Growing old gracefully can happen when you are active.
  • Physical activity improves learning and memory: Exercising stimulates new neurons in our brains. It protects the gray matter and slows the Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Enhances our immune system: Exercise improves heart function which pumps more blood. Your lungs can then handle oxygen and delivers it to the rest of the body. Exercise boosts immune system by providing your cells with a boost so they can attack bacteria and keep you healthier.
  • Diffuses anger: Exercise channels your emotions by raising the serotonin levels which regulates the behavior of your brain.
  • Increases sexual desire: When you feel better about yourself your sexual desire is stirred and you have more energy to engage in a loving relationship.

These are just my 10 reasons to keep moving.

What are some of yours?

50 AND COUNTING

Monday marked my 50th birthday. It came and went without a thought…yeah right! When does a milestone birthday go by without a thought? NEVER! Yes, I’m 50 and counting! I celebrated this day with my husband and a few close friends. Got many phone calls from my family and Facebook birthday wishes. Then yesterday it finally hit me.

Where did the time go? It seems I went to sleep at the ripe old age of 21 and woke up at 50. Time is so fleeting, yet it’s the thing we waste the most. In my 50 years of life, I’ve accomplished many things. I married my high school sweetheart. I raised four wonderful sons. I graduated from college. I helped many people along the way. But never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would wake up one day and be 50.

When I was a kid, I thought 50 was old. I thought my parents were ancient when they were 50. After all my mom was 50 when I was only 14. Then yesterday a good friend of mine, who’s a bit older than me, asked me how I felt now that I’m 50. I feel no different than when I was 49. What’s really interesting is that I feel no different than when I was 29. In my head I still see myself as that naive young woman of 21 who had her whole future ahead of her.

I still have my future ahead of me, we all do. There is no magic age when a person is old. It’s all how you feel. I feel young. I’m healthy. I’m not on any prescriptions. Not one joint is creaking in my body. I’m more energetic now than I was when I was in my 20’s.

Young at Heart

It’s just like the old Jimmy Durante song (If You’re) Young at Heart. My fairy tales can still come true, because I’m young at heart. I can still laugh when my dreams fall apart at their seams, because I know that there’s excitement in each new day. Yes I still have dreams and I still have goals, some are the same I’ve had for years, but I know in my heart I can accomplish them.

Be young at heart and you’ll never grow old!

MY PROGRESS

I am into my 11th week on Asea and I am constantly noticing different benefits from taking it. One of the benefits is that I don’t bruise as easily as I did before I started taking these Redox signaling molecules. This is great news because I used to run into things when I would get up in the middle of the night and in the morning have a large knot on my shin or arm. Now because of taking the ASEA I can see better in the dark, so I’m not running into doors, walls, or just my furniture. Plus when I do something haphazardly, I don’t bruise like I used to. I also used to bruise when someone would grab my arm or lean on me. This bruising condition is not related to any other illness, I’ve had it checked. It’s just the way I have always been.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that because I’ve been spraying the ASEA in my eyes, I can see better in the dark. Now I can let my eyes adjust to the darkness and can see with no problems. Before ASEA I used to leave a light trail from my living room to the hallway and then my bedroom. My husband used to freak me out from time-to-time and turn all the lights off in the house just to hear me complain and whine about how I couldn’t see.  Now when he does this I call out to him like I need help only so I don’t bruise his ego.

One of best things I have noticed is that my age spots, or dark spots that started appearing on my hands and arms are fading. The ones on my hands are gone. I’ve been spraying them since I started taking the ASEA 11 weeks ago. My hands no longer look like they are 10 years older than the rest of my body.

These are but three benefits that I’ve gained from taking ASEA. These Redox signaling molecules work both on the inside and the outside. When I report what is happening on the outside of my body, I know that deep within me a transformation is taking place, one that could only be made possible by these molecules telling my aging cells to rejuvenate or die so they can be replaced with new healthy cells.
